Limberg III – Invert segment
Excerpt
Parts of the works water system of the pumped storage plant Limberg III are to be clad with an in-situ concrete lining, supported on precast invert segments.
The JV Limberg III is tasked with the refurbishment of the pumped storage plant Limberg III. Part of the scheme includes breaking out of parts of the works waterway (headrace tunnel, intake, tailrace tunnel) and replacement with an in-situ concrete lining and precast invert segment. The precast segment serves as the abutment of the in-situ arch of the lining. Two geometries of segment are required, type A for the headrace tunnel, constructed with a gripper TBM, and type 1 for the intake and tailrace tunnels, which are conventionally driven. Both geometries make use of steel fibre reinforced concrete.
